I just made some DIY lavender and lemon linen spray and have since sprayed it all over our house which now smells like a subtly delicious, peaceful yet invigorating explosion of sunbeams. I’m about it.

To offer a little insight into our lives, Ben works a shift a week at whole foods (hello happy discount on all those gluten free goodies we require). I used to try to take care of the kids AND try to work at the same time while he was gone (try being the operative word there), but I’ve come to realize that the absolute best thing for everyone involved is if I take that day off completely and absorb the sweet spirits of my children, then do a little self care after they go to bed. I don’t work at all. I’m still working on the guilt of taking a day off, because I never used to take any days off. It’s not really my style to slow down even though I know I need it. My next goal is to get one more day off in the rotation to have a family day all 4 of us with no work at all. I keep reminding myself that normal humans have 2 day weekends and there’s no reason to feel guilty over that! Anyone else working on their work life balance? What are your secrets? What are you doing to take care of yourself?

I’m a chronic over-thinker (where my homies at?). So I’ve just been over here thinking that I’ve been slacking on our captions when it’s likely that nobody even noticed. Mostly, we’ve been “slacking” (my word, not yours - I’d never put words in your mouth) because I’m afraid of sounding like a Debbie downer. I don’t know why Debbie is the downer, but that’s what they say. Sorry to all you Debbie’s out there. Anyway, there’s been a lot emotional happenings over in this house as of recent, ones that we’re not comfortable talking about in the land of the inter webs, so we’ve been protecting those pieces of us and thus haven’t had much else to say. BUT, I will say this - if you feel like putting a large piece of sheer fabric over yourself for any portion of any shoot, we are HERE for it and the ethereal beauty that comes of it.

If you need me, I’ll be napping - is what I would say if there weren’t so many things to do (because business owner/parent), places to go (within the realms of creation), and people to see (celebrating their best days on my computer).

Here you see a natural reversion to being a kid - when you can’t stand not walking on a fallen tree like a balance beam, and thus, one of our favorite photos from the day because it takes us right back to those feelings.

Tree nooks make the best place for a rest when you’ve been hiking in the elements all day in wedding attire. Perks of rain whilst hiking a mountain? It masks the sweat. Win win win.

Find yourself a partner that recognizes you’ve been up all night with the teething babe and tells you to go back to sleep in the morning without you even needing to ask.
